Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Movie

One thing made me a bit sad today. That is the fact that I will not be able to watch  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2. This has been a very busy week for my whole family so my husband and I don't have time to watch a movie. I hope we can watch it this weekend or if not, we will try to watch it next week. I believe we will avoid crowds and long lines that way.
Anyway I took a fun quiz at FemaleNetwork.com to determine at which Hogwarts house do my personality fit in. According to the result, I belong to the Ravenclaw house!

You belong in RAVENCLAW! You're intelligent and capable, just like the students in Ravenclaw. You've got a good head on your shoulders, and you use it well, even if sometimes others don't see things the way you do. You love spending time alone, just reflecting or reading a good book. You enjoy learning a lot, and your mind is always full of thoughts and ideas. When you speak, people listen because they know you'll have something interesting to say. While some might see you as just book-smart, you're actually pretty practical and good at thinking out of the box, so you have a way of coming up with less obvious but often more effective solutions to any problem. You love useful gadgets, especially things that serve multiple purposes, and you're very logical when it comes to helping people resolve issues--whether at work or in their personal lives.

Bagyong Falcon Update

It's clearly the rainy season as for a week now, the weather is perfect for lazing around and sleeping. It is so hard to get up in the morning and at work, I always have the urge to close my eyes and snooze.

I love the cool weather because I easily get dizzy when it is so hot but I don't like typhoons - the strong scary winds, thunders and lightnings, brownouts, floods, etc. I do like the suspension of classes though when I am still studying (lol).

News reports said that Bagyong Falcon is heading out of the country but is able to maintain its strength. I hope the weather clears up soon as our office has an important event on Friday and my family plans to go out this weekend.

I am sure many are also hoping to say goodbye to Tropical Depression Falcon.

Here's the latest update from PAGASA regarding Bagyon Falcon:

Tropical Depression "FALCON" has slightly accelerated as it continues to move northwestward over the Philippine Sea.

Jose Rizal 150 Year After

I have always been amazed by Jose Rizal's intelligence and achievements. In college, there is a 3-unit subject that is dedicated to Rizal. In UP, the subject is called P.I. 100 during my time. The course sounds funny but it is actually not an easy one. Our teacher gave us tons of reading assignments- poems and essays of Rizal. All of Riza'ls works are really worth reading. I particularly like the essay entitled: Philippines 100 Years Hence and the one that talks about the laziness of the Filipinos.

There was no work or school yesterday because the National Historical Commission requested that the President Aquino declare the 150th birthday of our National Hero a holiday. Good thing the President listened. I think it is just right for today's youth to be more aware of Rizal as it is a great source of Pinoy pride other than Pacquiao and Charice.

Anyway one of the reasons why this date is significant to me is because it seemed to have awaken my passion for stamp collecting. You see I have a small stamp collection before. This hobby is quite boring really so its been years since I last bought a stamp. However it is nevertheless interesting so I want to buy the 150 years of Rizal stamp tomorrow and hopefully revive my stamp collecting hobby

Lunar Eclipse

A lot of people and things seems weird today. For one, my boss just decided to cancel our company outing again! We are all disappointed because we are all set to do it tomorrow. Besides it was supposed to be a summer company outing and it is almost July. Also, a client I hated started asking about the terms and conditions of the project we did for them when they  had already approved it before.

On second thought, none of the things I mentioned are really weird. But one of my officemate commented that those are probably an effect of the lunar eclipse that happened yesterday.

It was an exaggeration and I never believed on claims that an eclipse has a great effect on people's actions. But I do agree that an eclipse is an extraordinary occurrence and I always want to see it.

For some reason though, I am clueless that there is a lunar eclipse last night and so I missed it. Anyway it's not so hard to miss as  the peak happened at 4:12 am- I am in a dreamland then. It began at 1:24 am, peaked at 4:12 am and turned red at around 5 AM.

Reports said that the deep lunar eclipse that was seen in Manila and other parts of the country was the the longest in more than a decade.

This eclipse is different from the rest because the moon color turned blood red when it
usually turns brown . According to experts, it is caused by the amount of ash in the Earth's atmosphere.

The June 16, 2011 total lunar eclipse was the first of two such eclipses this year. The second lunar eclipse is expected to take place on December 10th.

Who is Erik Spoelstra?

I am not really into basketball. If there are times when I become fascinated with the sport, it is just because I got influenced either by my classmates, former dorm mates or relatives who are basketball fans.

Well I have become a fan of San Miguel team back in elementary days but I don't really follow and watch all of the games.

In high school, I got hooked in Chicago Bulls for a while because of a cousin who is always talking about Michael Jordan. And in college, I got interested in basketball because of UAAP. I lost interest quickly because unfortunately the UP maroon team is always losing.

This time though, I became interested with the fight between Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks. Most of my guy officemates followed the games and placed their bets on their chosen team.

My husband likes Miami Heat and so I watched the game hoping they will win. What makes them more likeable is the fact that their head coach, Erik Spoelstra has a Filipino blood. As so many Filipinos tuned in this NBA championship, I am not surprised to see his name included in the most searched list of Yahoo Philippines these days. He is said to be the first Filipino American head coach in the NBA and the first Filipino-American head coach of any North American professional sports team.
To those who want to know more about Erik Spoelstra, click here.

Even if Miami Heat lost, I still support them because of their coach that makes me proud as a Filipino. Nevertheless, I don't think my fascination with basketball will ever reach a higher level because Miami Heat lost the championship to Dallas.

Sad Love Quotes

I am making this post now because of one of my officemates just watched a romantic movie and started ranting about how sad his love life is (again!).

Suddenly he is mindful of every love song that is played in the radio and how the lyrics suits him so well. To make matters worse, he also started posting sad love quotes in his Facebook wall. It is not the first time he had done that and I quite admire the fact that he is not afraid to express himself. Even if it would mean brutal teasing from my other officemates.

You see every time he post cheesy messages on FB, most of my office mates started wondering about his true gender preference. Well I just find it funny and weird especially because of all the people in our office, I seem to be his favorite confidant. He loves sharing to me his love life  and love thoughts. And I always tell him that I am quite a gay magnet. I have lots of gay friends in high school and he doesn't seem to mind.

I know this post is quite nonsense, just really want to write and share. And maybe I will also share to him this Twitter account that post nice love song quotes.
