Movies I Missed

For some reason, I am in the mood for reminiscing lately and suddenly I wanyt to watch old movies- movies that remind me of my childhood. Now that I have a child, I am thinking that I want to watch the movies of my childhood with my daughter someday. These are some of the movies which is a biog part of my childhood

Alice in Wonderland

This is the first movie that I ever saw in a betamax during the 80’s-- haha guess my age. I watched this film with my cousins and I love the part when Alice grew so large and cried. I find Alice so gorgeous then and until now.

Beauty and The Beast

I fell in love with this Disney movie that I watched in a cinema (again with my cousins and sisters). I enjoyed every bit of the story and I find Beast adorable. Would you believe that I even find Beast look more handsome than the Prince look when he transformed.

Never Ending Story

Another movie that I watched in a betamax as a child. I think it started my interest in books and reading. As a child, I am always imagining that the characters in the books I read are real. I find the Childlike Princess so beautiful!

Sound of Music

Again, another movie I saw in a betamax and this made me wish I can sing really well. Love al the songs in the movie though it is very long for me. I always end up sleeping before its over so I am not so young already when I saw the ending of this one ( laughs) The So long farewell scene is my favorite part of the movie.

Sophie at 2 Months

How time flies! Sophie is already two months old and she has shown so much improvement since the day she was born. I take care of her and delight in seeing her grow day by day. Her sleep hours are longer and it seems like she can recognize me and her dad now because she’s always smiling. She coos and gurgle a lot too like she has so much to say already. I think I need to relax some more as a mommy because I sometimes panic when she cries out loud especially during immunizations though I know it is for her own good.

Here are some of Sophie’s pictures:

Gifts For My Daughter!

Last month, a package from the US arrived for Sophie. It is from my sister who works and lives there. The large box contains lots of cool baby things like toys, clothes, and baby stuff! Here are some of Sophie’s new things.

These cool clothes will really look so nice on Sophie.

This Leap Frog toy is so educational. It plays songs and rhymes that teaches numbers and colors. It also plays classical music.

And I am so happy for this Fisher-Price kick and crawl aquarium.

I also get to have a Victoria’s secret and Elizabeth Arden perfumes!

Thanks to my ate for being so generous!

A Piece Of Me This Month

Notes from the Tooth Fairy started a new game last Nov 1 called A Piece Of Me. Bloggers who want to participate needs to share a piece of herself every first Sunday of the month by answering five questions. I find it such a neat game so I am joining it. For this month here’s my entry:

This month....

I like: to open a savings account for my baby as well as buy additional items she needs like clothes and accessories. For myself, I need to go to the salon for a haircut, hot oil treatment and a manicure and pedicure.

I don't like: post natal depression. I guess I am having one lately, because there are times when I would just cry because I feel ugly, inadequate as a mom, etc.

I want you to know:
that I am trying my very best to be a good wife to my husband and a good mother to my daughter. It’s not so easy because it requires lots of sacrifice. But I know that however hard it may be, it is worth it.

I've planned:
to go back to work next month.

I want to say to someone special:
To my Husband- thank you for the understanding and patience and I am sorry if I can be real cruel sometimes. For a first time dad, you are really doing great!

Being a Mom Is the Best Job in the World

For a week now, I am busy taking care of my daughter full time. My aunt who used to help us take care of Sophie had to go back to her family and as of now we are still in the process of finding a nanny.

If I used to be so afraid to be left alone with my baby, I guess after a week I can say that I am slowly getting used to it. I now know how to change her diaper and clothes, how to properly hold her and how to make her burp. The only thing I am afraid to do alone is giving my baby a bath. Fortunately my other aunt is there to help me in this one.

I am also getting used tp my baby’s daily routine. In the morning after feeding her, we would expose her to morning sunlight for a few minutes then I would give her her vitamins. After that she would sleep a little for about an hour and when she wakes up, it’s time to give her a bath. Sometimes she would poop around this time too. After a bath it’s time for a feeding again and then she would fall asleep for an average of 3 hours. When she wakes up, she is sure to be hungry so I would make sure her milk is ready. At times she would again poop so I would change her diaper and sometimes change her clothes.

She would sometimes go back to sleep but most of the time, she would stay awake and until the time when my husband comes home from work which is around 6pm. I would hold her, play with her, talk and sing to her softly.

I enjoy taking care of my baby though it can be very tiring. I find time to relax and rest when my daughter is asleep. I would sleep watch tv, read a book or listen to music.

I now fully realize the true meaning when one says that being a mother is a 24-hour task. It is a job that requires your full attention and energy. But I am also realizing that being a mom is indeed the most rewarding job in the world. My reward after a tiring day--- when my daughter gives a satisfied look then smiles sweetly. All of my tiredness seems to go away and I feel recharged!

Questions In My Head

My baby is now 1 month old and so far she is happy and healthy. But me and my husband are still adjusting to the new responsibility. I am the youngest in the family so I am not used to taking care of someone so young. At first I am afraid to carry my baby as she seems so tiny and delicate especially because I am still recuperating from the caesarian operation.

Aside from that, I guess the way of taking care of the baby has changed a lot since I was little. This is because most of the time, what the doctors says and what my aunt and my mom says contradicts and sometimes I am confused on who should I listen to. Of course, most of the time I would listen to the doctor but I also consider what my elders say.

I am a feeling a little sad now and I hate it. This is because sometimes I feel like I am so inadequate as a mother and I am afraid that everything I do is wrong. I feel a little unsure f everything and there are times when I feel neglected too. I hope that I snap out of this blue mood soon so I can be a good mother to my daughter. I want her to grow up healthy, happy and surrounded with so much love. I pray that God will help me achieve this aim.

Sophie is 1-Month Old!

My baby turned 1-month old last October 5 so we prepared some food to celebrate it. Her guests are my two pamangkins, my sister in-law and some neighbors. My aunt cooked carbonara which is really her specialty because it tastes so good while my mother prepared macaroni salad. For the children, we also had some ice cream. It was a nice day and again I thank God for this wonderful blessing. Hope He will help us take good care of our little princess. Here’s a pic of Sophie at 1 month:

Another Favorite Song of Mine

I discovered lots of great love songs when I am preparing for my wedding and again, I want to share it here. I really like this song from the rhythms, the beat and the lyrics. It is like a lyrical poem for me and I would really be flattered if someone would dedicate this song to me. I used to listen to this song over and over and I can’t get enough of it. I wasn’t able to use this song for my wedding though because I can’t find any cd of this song nor any sites where I can download it. Anyway, to those who are searching for nice songs to use for their wedding, I recommend this song.

Lovely by Michelle Tumes

You're the sweet dreams that soothe me
When I can't fall asleep
You're the field in the middle of the city
When I'm rushing by at the speed of light
You're the strong resolution when I find no peace
You're the church bells ringing in the evening
When all is quiet You whisper comfort
That lifts my heart
I get so weak

You're lovely, lovely
You're the center of my universe
A thousand times I look around me and I find
You're lovely, lovely
You're the center of my universe
A million ways could not explain
You're lovely

You're the soft words that touch me
When I just can't speak
You're the breeze on the ocean in the morning
Reminding me to greet the day
You're the flowers I remember seeing in Italy
Colors through a golden haze
Bright and radiant, soft and fragrant
In the noon day sun, it makes me sing

I understand there may be grief
And there may be pain
But I'm aware You blind the darkness
With Who You are

Tips for Shopping Online

Do you need to buy something but doesn’t have time to hit the mall? Why don’t you browse shopping sites on the net? In this time when people are busy with so many things, online shopping seems to be perfect so one can get the things they need fast and easy. I tried and discovered the convenience of online shopping when I was pregnant because I am always at home so I bought some baby things online. Of course there are advantages and disadvantages with this kind of shopping and one of the things I hate about it is that sometime shopping sites can offer very limited products and I can’t find the one I need.

So I am so happy to discover ShopWiki.com. It is a revolutionary virtual mall because a shopper can find almost all kind of products they want to buy as they do not have an exclusive placement of online stores. One can find almost everything that one needs at ShopWiki.com because a shopper can find all online stores that sell the item they need, not just the stores that have paid for placement.

I find ShopWiki so useful because I saw that they have a list of bags for new parents which I need right now. I also want to give my husband a gift next month and using ShopWiki, I was able to search for nice men’s clothing that I can give him. Searching is also easier here because the items are specifically sorted because men’s pants are found in a different webpage. So discover the convenience of online shopping and check out this site now.

Sad and Grateful

I am watching the news now and my heart goes out to all the victims of Bagyong Ondoy. The images and scenes on TV are so depressing and almost unbelievable. Everyone was caught by surprise at the huge damage that a few hours of rain had brought. I particularly pity the children and babies because they are so young for that kind of disaster. The image of a woman lining up for some relief goods with her 9-month old baby almost made me cry because I have a newborn baby now and I just can’t imagine what I’ll do if I see myself in that kind of situation.

So I am grateful that my family is spared from this tragedy. I hope it won’t happen again and I hope all victims will be given strength from God so they can rise out of the dim situation.

I Want to Really Get Well

Since my caesarian operation, I guess I can say that things are more or less back to normal for me. Although of course I am still extra careful when moving around. Also, I can‘t lift heavy objects yet. Sometimes when I am lying down, I have to ask my husband or mom to lift me up. There are also days when my wounds hurt and I had to take pain reliever especially when the weather is cold.

It is very seldom that I got sick so I really felt so helpless sometimes and I hate it. There are days when I want to cry and as much as possible, I don’t want to look so weak. I hope that I would really get well soon because there are so many things that I need to do and accomplish.

My 100th Post

I am so busy and preoccupied with taking care of my baby and myself that I barely noticed a milestone in my blog. I started this blog last February and now just before this month ends, I finally reached my 100th posts. Of all the blogs I’ve started and abandoned, this is by far the most successful and enduring (lol). I still have a lot to learn abut blogging but I am definitely looking forward to the next 100 posts.

An Almost Painless Labor

I am the type of person who shuns doctors and hospitals so it is quite a surprise that in the labor room, I felt so calm. Of course there was a slight moment of panic when I entered the labor room and I realized that my husband and mom cannot accompany me there but I quickly reminded myself to be strong.

When I lied down on the hospital bed, I felt fear again and wonder why I can’t be with my husband or mom at this important time. But when the nurse did an interview, I started to feel comfortable. It really helps that the nurses and other medical staff are all smiling and nice.

There was another pregnant woman in the other bed when I arrived and I smiled at her but she seems to be in so much pain that she can’t respond. She constantly cries and begs for relief. I felt pity for her although her cries bothered me.

For almost 7 hours, I am stuck at 5 cm but can you believe that I felt no pain at all. I am really anticipating pain and actually praying for it when I realized that I am not progressing but I did not experience it. Either I have such a high tolerance for pain or the anesthesia really get into me. I would like to think that my baby is so considerate and kind. But alas the pain started after the operation and until now, I am still in the healing process.

My Birth Story

I am writing this post 13 days after giving birth but everything is still fresh in my mind. Looking back, my birth story is something that I never expected. Maybe it is right to say that everything that happened that day was a surprise.

I woke up early the morning of September 5, although I barely slept the night before because I am scheduled to have a check up with my OB. It will be my mom who will accompany me to the hospital because my husband had to work on a Saturday.

Since the night before and a few days before that, I noticed that the white mens discharge is getting heavier. That morning, when I went to the cr to pee, I noticed pinkish mucus but thought it was not blood so I just ignored it. I ate a hearty breakfast and around 9:30, my mom and I went to the hospital while my husband went to his office.

At the hospital, my OB did an IE as I am already 39 weeks pregnant and that’s when she found out that I am already 3 cm dilated. I am feeling no pain, just a slight discomfort but I am already in labor. So my supposed checkup turned out to be the day for me to give birth. That surprised, scared and excited me. She immediately called my mom to explain my condition and the birth procedure. She said that I am supposed to progress to 1 cm dilation every hour so I assume that I would deliver around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. She wants us to go straight to the delivery room but since my house is only minutes away, I said I would like to go home first.

At home, I managed to have a quick warm shower and gather all of the things that we need to bring and called my husband. My husband went home and when he arrived, we went to the hospital.

I am praying when I went to the labor room but I am so calm and ready. The nurses are all nice and at 1:30, they said I am already 5cm dilated. They all said I am progressing pretty fast and I will soon give birth as they also think that the baby is not that big.

Around 3pm, another IE, I am still feeling no pain and I am still 5cm dilated. At 5:30, my OB arrived and still I am 5cm dilated—my baby seemed to be asleep.

At 6pm, pm, I was surprised when my OB asked if I want to discuss things with my husband because at 7pm, if I am still at 5cm, then the next best option is for me to deliver via C-section. That alarmed me because from the start, I really want to give birth the normal way. I asked if I can wait for another hour and my OB said okay.

The OB and the nurses are all wondering why I am still feeling no pain. This time, I am already praying for pain if that would be the sign that i would soon give birth. But alas at 7 pm, there is no improvement and I had to talk to my husband via phone while my mother went to the labor room to talk to me and see how I am doing. We said we want to wait for another hour. At 8 pm, I am still at 5cm and I was transferred to the operating room. We made a decision because my OB said that the more the labor hours are prolonged, the chance for successful delivery become slim.

So that’s how I gave birth--via caesarian section which is totally unexpected and at some point made me so sad. But there is probably a reason why I end up giving birth that way. Besides what is important is that my baby is fine and healthy and so am I.

The 5th of September 2009

If you will search my blog posts, you will find an entry entitled, Marking My Calendars and there you will see that I mentioned the possible dates when I will give birth. I said the earliest would be August 22 but the most likely will be September 5 and that I put a large circle on that date on my calendar. I am just amazed because I actually gave birth on that date! On September 5, 2009 at 8:47 pm, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl. We named her Sophia Isabel and we are just grateful for this wonderful blessing. I will post my birth story next time.

A New Way to Earn From Blogs

There’s a new venue where bloggers can earn easy money- that is LinkfromBlog.com. I learned about this from the blog of PinayMommy and got encouraged because according to her, she got paid after just 10 days of signing up. That is pretty fast so I said it’s’worth a try.

Earning money here is indeed not so hard as it works like other paid to post companies except that they give bonuses for each blog you activate. I want to share this new find to all who also want to earn some money from their blogs.

At The Beginning

I am at the office when one of my friends sent me a message via YM saying she is depressed– well apparently because of her menstrual period. To be honest, I don’t like using that excuse for one to be depressed. But she is not feeling well and as a friend, I tried my best to cheer her up. One of the things I suggested for her to feel better is to listen to lively songs. And a song that came to our mind is At the Beginning sang by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis. It’s a song from the Disney movie, Anastasia.

I really like this song because of the beat, the rhythm and the lyrics. It’s also memorable for me because we used this song for the audio-visual presentation shown during my wedding reception. Well, just want to share this wonderful song to the rest. Enjoy!

I Am 39 Weeks Pregnant!

Wow I can’t believe the last 9 months have gone by in a flash. I can give birth anytime now but I am still working. My OB said it will be better if I start my maternity leave when the baby arrives. But I plan to take a leave on September 15, in case I still haven’t given birth by then.

So this is how it feels to carry a baby inside for 9 months- a mixture of disbelief, amazement and gratefulness. I believe that the most important part of this journey is about to happen in a few days and I am both excited and nervous.

I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my baby. Please help me pray for a safe and happy delivery. By the way, here are some facts about being 39 weeks pregnant:

The average baby is about 20.5 inches / 51 centimeters long from head to toe and weighs approximately 7.5 pounds / 3.4 kilograms at birth, but anywhere between 5 pounds 11.5 ounces and 8 pounds 5.75 ounces / 2.5 and 3.8 kilograms is a healthy range for newborns.

Your amniotic fluid, once clear, is now pale and milky from your baby's shedding vernix caseosa. The outer layers of skin are also sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

In TV programs, labor always begins with the waters breaking - in the middle of a crowded room, of course - just before contractions start. If you've been worrying that this scenario will happen to you, you can stop. Membranes rupture in less than 15 per cent of pregnancies and when it does happen, the baby's head tends to act like a cork at the opening of the uterus. (If you lie down, however, you may notice fluid leaking.) You should stay calm - it may be hours before you feel your first contraction - and call your doctor right away. Your body will produce more amniotic fluid until the baby is born, so your carers may suggest you wait at home until contractions are under way or may suggest an induction.

And if the week passes and there's still no baby? Don't panic - only 5 per cent of babies are born on their scheduled due date. Most doctors wait another two weeks before considering a pregnancy overdue.

September: Another Special Month

The ber months has started. Here in the Philippines, September 1 is special because it signifies the start of the Christmas season. But for this year, I have another reason to consider September as very special month. And that is because I am due to give birth this month. I wonder what will be the birth date of my daughter.

I have a number of favorite months- February- because it is my birthday month. August because for some reason, my current and past relationships started at the month of August. January is also a favorite because it is the month I got married and of course July because it is hubby’s birthday month. Now, it’s September. my daughter birthday moth. Here are some interesting facts about the month of September:

According to the Georgian calendar, September is the ninth month. But, on the Roman calendar, it was the seventh month. September has had 29 days, and 31 days; but, since the time of the emperor Augustus, it has had only 30 days.

September is one of the warmest months in the Southern United States. Northern states have warm September days, but the nights get much cooler. It is also harvest time for crops. And, in Switzerland, it's called Harvest Month.

The sapphire is the gem for September.

The morning glory is the flower for the month of September.

Together for Two Years Now

My husband and I will celebrate our 2 years of togetherness today. You see we became an official couple 2 years ago -August 30, 2007. Some would say ours is what you call a whirlwind romance. I met him July 27 of that year and after just a month, we are boyfriend and girlfriend, quite fast but I have no regrets. For some reason, he seems to be in a hurry too because he mentioned the idea of marriage after a month I guess. That thrilled but almost scared me then. He wanted to get married right away, the earliest would have been April of 2008 but there are other things to consider like the financial aspect and others so we had to wait.

Last year, the day we celebrated our 1st anniversary, he and his family all the way from La Union went to our house in Cavite to do the traditional pamamannhikan. I remember last year at this time, we were both so busy and excited for that memorable event. I remember that we even had a mild fight the night before (laughs). There are lots of emotions involved in that day but after everything, the wedding was set and we were married January of this year. So we are a couple for 24 months now, known each other for 25 months, been married for almost 8 months and I am 9 months pregnant (laughs).

We are just an ordinary married couple, still learning the ropes of this new life we entered and we seek the help of God along the way. I am so grateful to God for giving him to me and for the life we are starting to form- a life that we will share forever.

UP: The Movie

My husband and I watched UP, that animated Disney movie at the Shang Cineplex today and I can say that it is a good movie. It is entertaining though the story is a little simple and quite short. I am touched and moved by the way the movie tackles marriage and old age. The main character, Carl and Ellie seemed to love each other so much. What the movie shows is what marriage should be all about.

Well, it is the story of an old man who instead of settling in a retirement home decided to pursue the dream that he and his late wife always dreamed of but never gets around to doing. Carl is a balloon maker and he attempted the impossible of traveling by making his house fly using the power of what seemed like a million colorful balloons. A little cute boy named Russell accidentally joined him in his trip and together they embark on the adventure of a lifetime. I am glad I have watched this movie and recommend it to both children and adults. Here’s a sneak peek:

Friday Jitters

It’s Friday but I can’ say TGIF yet. This is because we have a reporting/learning activity at the office today and I am one of the reporters. I am a little nervous because as a writer, it’s been ages since I last did a reporting in front of many people. I think I am more used to communicating with my PC (laughs). The report will tackle the basics of copywriting for the web and hopefully we can apply it in our jobs. Aside from me, other writers and sales people in the office also has a topic to report.

What’s makes this reporting even more challenging is that there will be six topics and each of us need to study the entire material because we will only know the topic to be assigned to us on the day of the reporting itself. It’s like an on the spot reporting. Well, I studied the whole material and made some notes. I just wish I can deliver my report properly later. Wish me luck J By the way; here are some tips on public speaking:

Know your material. Pick a topic you are interested in. Know more about it than you include in your speech. Use humor, personal stories and conversational language – that way you won’t easily forget what to say.

Practice. Practice. Practice! Rehearse out loud with all equipment you plan on using. Revise as necessary. Work to control filler words; Practice, pause and breathe. Practice with a timer and allow time for the unexpected.

Know the audience. Greet some of the audience members as they arrive. It’s easier to speak to a group of friends than to strangers.

Relax. Begin by addressing the audience. It buys you time and calms your nerves. Pause, smile and count to three before saying anything. Transform nervous energy into enthusiasm.

Visualize yourself giving your speech. Imagine yourself speaking, your voice loud, clear and confident. Visualize the audience clapping – it will boost your confidence.

Concentrate on the message – not the medium. Focus your attention away from your own anxieties and concentrate on your message and your audience.

Load Up With Calcium-Rich Foods

Since I was a child, I am really not into milk. The taste makes me puke sometimes. But I need to drink lots of milk now that I am pregnant to make sure that my baby and I are getting enough of this nutrient necessary for stronger bones. Well, I can’t say that I followed the 2 glasses of milk a day that the OB advised. There are days when I skipped a drink or two and just settle on the caltrate plus supplement. I also make sure to eat foods rich in calcium like fruits and vegetables. Especially now that my day of giving birth is drawing near. Here are some foods to eat besides milk that will give one the recommended 1000 mg. of daily calcium needs:

½ cup of macaroni cheese- 180 grams of calcium

1 grille cheese sandwich- 371 grams of calcium

1 medium papaya- 73 mg. of calcium

1 cup of broccoli – 90 mg. of calcium

1 slice of cheese pizza – 180 mg. of calcium

8 medium canned sardines- 370 mg. of calcium

1 cup of orange juice with added calcium- 300 mg. of calcium

1 cup of yoghurt- 450 mg. of calcium

½ cup of chocolate pudding- 150 mg. of calcium

Sleep and Poetry

I am having difficulty sleeping tonight. My eyes and mind just won’t shut off although I am really tired already. Part of the reason is because I find it hard to find the best position that my baby and I would find comfortable. In the quest to reach slumber mode, I stumbled upon an excerpt of this wonderful poem that I would like to share to the rest.

Sleep and Poetry
By: John Keats

What is more tranquil than a musk rose blowing?
In a green island, far from anyone’s knowing?
More healthful than the leafiness of dales?
More secret than a nest of nightingales?
More serene than Cordelia’s countenance?
More full of visions than a high romance?
What but thee sleep, Soft closer of our eyes!
Low murmurer of tender lullabies!
Light hover around our happy pillows!
Wreather of poppy buds, and weeping willows

A Close Look At Webhosting

Although I work as a content writer for an IT company that creates and manages a number of sites and blogs. I am not really familiar with web hosting services and how to choose one from various web hosting providers’ available.

As an employee of that company and as a blogger, I think it would be useful if I gain some insights about this matter because I may also get my own domain someday.
In my opinion, blogs with own domain looks so professional.

Of course there are things one should consider when looking for a web hosting service- such as the price, the features, and the perks that goes with it. Although most web hosting services are relatively affordable, we still want to make sure that we get the best value for our money. It is a good thing that there are sites that offer honest and straightforward web hosting reviews.

So for those who are thinking of getting their own domain, I recommend that they pay a visit to: http://webhostinggeeks.com/ to see the opinions and experiences of actual users. One of the things one will see here are the Top 10 best web hosts for this year. Topping the list is InMotion. To see the rest, better check out the site now!

To Work or Not To Work

My boss asked me recently if I would still be working after giving birth or if I would be a full time mother. My boss obviously wants to make sure that I would still be available to work for them after my maternity leave. Knowing my boss, he wants to be prepared and hire a replacement if ever.

I told my boss that I would still be working because right now I have no plans of quitting work even after giving birth – maybe because I still don’t find it necessary. There are people who can take care of the baby while I and hubby work.

But the query of my boss got me thinking, if I would really be ready to give up my job if ever the need arises. Maybe I will be a stay at home mom too someday. Or maybe I will just find a new job that would require me to work for fewer hours.

Of course I love to take care of my baby full time and as a homebody; I am sure that I would enjoy it. But I also want to be independent and I love the feeling that I have my own job. Right now, I still can’t figure myself as a stay at home mom. So I’ll just cross the bridge when I get there.

Funky Feet Not-Quite-Shoes

As we are already shopping things for the baby now, I am checking out some online sites where I can buy nice stuff for my daughter. This is because I can’t find the time and sometimes the stamina to roam around in malls. My husband is responsible for shopping at the malls, while I browse online sites for other things we need. Anyway, I saw this nice site that offer cool stuff for moms and babies- http://proudmamastore.multiply.com/

I love the funky feet socks apparently baby are not supposed to wear shoes yet as it will not allow feet to grow naturally. But of course we still want our babies to look their best so comes the Funky Feet Not-Quite-Shoes- baby socks that look like shoes. It is said to be made from imported cotton and the closest your baby can get to barefoot comfort while completing their cool-enough-to-be-designer-duds look! I find it trendy and affordable so I filled up a mix and match order form. One box cost Php 500 plus the shipping cost of php50.

This song is ringing in my head

This song seems to have a magnetic appeal. I first heard it sang by Bea Alonzo in a Wowowee show one Saturday. Then one of my officemates began singing it over and over unconsciously- a bad case of last song syndrome (laughs). Then my husband after hearing it played in a radio once also started singing it. Now, I think I am also catching the bug; I can’t help but be amused. I was surprised to learn that it was a Korean song and sang by a Korean group. Well a little research on the net gave me the following info:

Nobody is a Wonder Girls song produced by Park Jin-young. Released as a digital single on September 22, 2008, the song became popular within hours, becoming a top search term and ranking #1 on digital music sites. The Wonder Girls are a South Korean girl group.

Here’s a video of this popular song:

Wednesday Break

Today is a holiday, because it is the day of former President Aquino’s funeral. The weather is gloomy and perfect to stay home and rest but I took this opportunity to go to Redemptorist Church in Baclaran and attend a novena mass.

I want to do it before I give birth because I want to pray for a happy delivery. I went there together with my mother and husband. We woke up early to catch the early mass schedule and as usual there are so many people and I am always amazed at the depth of their devotions. Going to church like this one makes me feel proud to be a Filipino because I am amazed at the deep faith of the people. After mass, we bought half kilo of lechon because Baclaran is famous for this delicacy.

Lousy Monday

If I only knew that this day would turn out as it is, I would have just stayed in bed and skip work again. Well, let’s just say that I wasn’t able to start the week right. It started with heavy rains that made hiring a taxi cab extra difficult. It is usual for me to be at the office by 8 am, but today I timed in at 9:29 am.

Then my boss talked to me about a new task that is quite difficult and how he wants to see more effort from me at work--that one sucks and should never be given on a Monday. I hate it when Mondays doesn’t turn out nice because it seems to affect the rest of the week. But what else can I do? I guess we all have days like this right? All I can do is just bear it and think hat tomorrow will be another day!

Plans For Our Future Home

My husband received a call from the real estate developer of the house and lot we purchased in Cavite to inform him that we can already move into the house next month. We only need to submit a few more documents and sign some papers then we are free to do what we want with it. We are glad about this news although moving in is not our priority as of the moment. Our first plan is for the construction of our home to further improve it. There are a lot of work to do and of course we need lots of funds too (lol).

We have many plans for the house like my husband wants two bathrooms while I want a nice cozy living room. A terrace would also be a welcome addition. I also want a big and inviting kitchen with stainless sinks because it looks clean and gorgeous. I recommend this kind of sink to all who are currently constructing or renovating their kitchen areas because using it has many advantages such as being more affordable and durable. It also matches well with almost all kitchen decor styles. Good thing that undermount stainless steel kitchen sinks and bar sinks are readily available at http://www.sinksusa.com

Ways to Beat Stress

Lately, I noticed that I am more stressed out and being quite mean to my husband. I really feel guilty when I do that and since I find myself regretting my actions later on, I always vow to be more patient next time.

It is probably due to the fact that I am now in my third trimester of pregnancy and feeling more uncomfortable everyday because my tummy seems to get heavier and heavier. But as much as possible, I don’t want to give myself any excuse for being mean so I really need to de-stress, relax and control my reactions. If you are in the same boat as I am, let me share some of the things one can do to relax and beat stress:

• List your blessings. Make a mental list of five things you are grateful of and focus on that. It is an instant mood lifter.

• Take a deep breath. Catch your shoulders up by your ears, breathe in slowly then relax and exhale.

• Sing. Be it in the shower, your bedroom or just about anywhere, it stimulates the release of endorphins, mood boosting, and brain chemicals.

• Make a tight fist then open your hand and focus on the physical sensation of releasing tension. Tune into other tense body parts such as neck, shoulders, brow and jaw and replicate the sensation of tension release through muscle relaxation.

• Laugh it off. Recall a ridiculous thing your friend did and mentally relive the incident and allow yourself a hearty chuckle.

• List down your worries to neatly organized your concerns. It helps restore a sense of calm in your life.

About Car Accessories

For me one of the best things about traveling via car or any other owned vehicle is the fact that the passenger is protected by dust and pollution. Of course, you can’t close the windows of the car or you can but it would be extremely uncomfortable if it doesn’t have an air con. The air con of my brother’s car was broken once and I remember how terrible the feeling is when we used it to go somewhere under the intense summer heat.

This proves the importance of car maintenance and that means ensuring that all diesel parts of the car are of the best quality. The good thing is that that there are online stores that offer quality diesel parts at affordable prices. One of them is Diesel Parts Pros. Among their products are Turbochargers, Diesel Fuel Pumps, Diesel Injectors, and Glow Plugs and much more. Visit their online store now to get all the car parts you need!

A New Part Time Job

In spite of me being pregnant and all, I decided to accept a part time writing job. Well I jus saw this job advertisement in one site and decided to submit an application letter, a resume and a few sample works. To my surprise, I received a reply the day after. The offer seemed fair and doable that it only takes a few email exchanges and negotiation before I agreed to accept the first writing assignments.

Part time job is not a new thing to me. I used to do lots of academic writing before and I kind of missed it- not the writing assignments really but the extra money I get from it (lol). This time I am required to write reviews for some products and I think I can do it. The pay is pretty good and I am given two weeks to finish 6 articles so there is no need for me to feel so stressed out. I hope I will be able to do my job well.

Taking It Easy

I am absent at work for four whole days this month including this Monday. I have used up all of my sick and vacation leaves and even offset privileges so that would mean four whole days without pay- almost a week’s worth of work to be deducted from my salary. I am quite upset because that is so far the most number of days that I missed work since I became an employee. I also hate missing work because I always find myself loaded with more task upon coming back at the office,

Well, there are various reasons why I had to miss work- the bad weather, me feeling so tired and sleepy in the morning and inability to hire a taxicab to take us to work. Some taxi drivers can be so choosy and demanding. So we really hope we can buy a car soon.

Anyway, on second thought maybe the days to rest are a blessing in disguise. At least for this month, I am able to take it easy. This is also probably good for my baby so I want to stop getting upset about it anymore.

Facebook Quizzes

One of the reasons why many people are drawn to Facebook are the interesting quizzes one can take there. They are excellent stress booster so whenever I feel bored and exhausted from too much researching via net, I take a Facebook quiz to unwind. Anyway I tried two quizzes recently and want to post it here because I love the results. Want to believe the results are true and accurate (laughs).

Mela took the How old do you look? quiz and the result is much younger

Mela took the IQ Test? quiz and the result is 140+ IQ!

Two Great Movies

I spent last weekend at home just watching movies via DVD. I wanted to go malling and watch in a cinema but my husband wants me to rest. Anyway, I saw two great films: Crash and North Country. I was hesitant to watch them at first because I wanted something light and funny. But since there isn’t any new dvd’s at home, I settled on what’s available and fortunately I wasn’t disappointed. True enough, the two movies have serious themes but confronts real issues in society. I recommend these two flicks because both are eye openers and after watching it, you’ll find yourself more aware of yourself, your fellowmen and the society you live in.

Crash

This movie deals with racial discrimination and how our failure to see each other as equals affect our judgment and decisions. With Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser, Ryan Phillipe, etc. the movie boast of a powerhouse cast.

North Country

Based on a true story, it deals with gender related issues specifically in the workplace. It shows the abuse and disadvantages women experience if placed in a territory that men dominates. Great acting from Charlize Thezron.

Prayer for a Safe and Happy Delivery

I am over 7 months pregnant now and will be giving birth soon. My belly has grown bigger that friends say it looks like it is about to explode (lol) and well moving around is becoming increasingly uncomfortable each day.

But alas, it seems like there is still so many things I need to prepare. Sometimes it is hard to find the time as I am constantly tired my husband and I are both working. Would you believe that up to this day, I am yet to decide on a name for my baby.

Yet I know that the most important thing is to ask for God’s guidance. Here is a prayer for giving birth I found on the net:

For a Happy Delivery

Lord Jesus Christ, who said, “Allow the little children to come to me, for the kingdom of heaven is for such,” I thank you with all my heart for the great and holy privilege you have granted me in calling me to present you with a little child, so precious in your sight. I praise and bless your divine goodness which has conferred this supreme favor on me, and I acknowledge myself altogether unworthy of this holy gift.

I bless you, too, your divine goodness for giving me such a sweet and holy patroness and protectress in your mother, the model and exaltation of all Christian motherhood.

Dear Jesus, I beg you to be mindful of the prayers and intercession of your immaculate mother in my behalf; heed her petitions for me and, as you have so blessed me in this pregnancy, mercifully grant the happy delivery which I now ask through her, my patroness, our Lady of Happy Delivery. Amen.

Prayer for a Safe Delivery

O great Saint Gerard, beloved servant of Jesus Christ, perfect imitator of your meek and humble Savior, and devoted child of Mother of God, enkindle within my heart one spark of that heavenly fire of charity which glowed in your heart and made you an angel of love.

O glorious Saint Gerard, because when falsely accused of crime, you did bear, like your Divine Master, without murmur or complaint, the calumnies of wicked men, you have been raised up by God as the patron and protector of expectant mothers.

Preserve me from danger and from the excessive pains accompanying childbirth, and shield the child which I now carry, that it may see the light of day and receive the purifying and life-giving waters of baptism through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
