Do it Yourself Birthday Party

September is a special month for me because it is the birthday month of my daughter, Sophie. Yes, she turned 2 last September 5 and for this year, we decided to hold the celebration at home. It is a much simpler one compared to her 1st birthday. Nevertheless, it is as memorable as the first.

I thought we can save on balloons because we have an inflater. But I think it would have been better if we bough ready-made balloons na lang. Inflating balloons is not as easy as it seems plus the balloons we bought at a thrift store seems to be of low quality. Here are some of the balloons we managed to make.

The simple menu:

Lechon
Kaldereta

The Birthday Cake

Shrimps with Baguio Beans

Pansit

Hotdogs and Marshmallows

We also had ice cream, lumpiang shanghai, pininyahang manok and steamed tilapia.

I made a simple lootbags with assorted candies on it.

The party was held at home and we only send invites to a few people so we spend less this year but you know, I guess we enjoyed it more. As there is no time restriction to think at home, the party lasted almost all day, with videoke singing, a little drinking and lots of eating.

Happy Birthday Nanay!

This is a special day for our family as it is my mother’s birthday. She turns 69 today so I filed a vacation leave yesterday so I can somehow help with the preparations. We expect families, friends and relatives to come so it will surely be a day we will all enjoy. We will be having lechon, roast chicken, menudo, pansit, lumpiang isda (my request), crab steamed in oyster sauce, inihaw na bangus, cake and fruit salad.

I wish my mother good health, happiness for many years to come. I hope that in my own little way, I turned out to be the daughter she deserved to have.

Birthday Celebration at the Office

I am one of the birthday celebrants for the month of February at my work and our boss decided to hold the celebration at the office today. They had food delivered at the office around lunchtime and we all shared a delicious meal that consists of a mocha cake from Goldilocks. pansit palabok from Ado’s panciteria ( a favorite at the office but we all prefer their pansit bihon than the palabok), barbecue still from Ado’s ( another favorite), lumpiang shanghai ( still from Ado’s), Andok’s lechon manok, and ice cream ( rocky road flavor). We are a small company, with only 11 employees so the food was more than enough for us. I am grateful for my bosses for the treat. Here’s a picture of my piece of cake.

Only four of my officemates know I am pregnant but the rest are suspecting that I am, so during lunchtime, everyone kept urging me to eat more and they are always quick to give me whatever it is I wanted. It’s quite funny because they are so excited to have a pregnant co-worker.
