2013 is the Year of the Water Snake

A few days from now and it will be Chinese New Year. I am not Chinese and my family don’t really celebrate this day but I am just curious about it because I am set to give birth this May and my daughter (yes we are having another girlJ) will have the sign of the water snake according to the Chinese zodiac.

The Chinese New Year for 2013 will happen this February 10, a day after my birthday so we are in a way celebrating this day too. My family plan to head to a nearby pool resort for a quick swimming party.

Anyway, let me share some facts about the year of the water snake that I gathered on the net:

The Snake
Ancient Chinese wisdom says a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means your family will not starve. This could be taken metaphorically to mean that a Snake could never have a problem with his family starving because he is such a great mediator, making him good at business. Or it could mean that a Snake would be willing to sacrifice his possessions, something the Snake has a lot of, in order to pay for his family’s food. Any way it is interpreted is representative of the Snake’s character and is a measure of the value he puts on his material wealth. The Snake is keen and cunning, quite intelligent and wise.

THE SIGN OF THE SNAKE
The Snake is the intuitive, introspective, refined and collected of the Animal Signs. They are attractive people who take cries with ease and do not become flustered easily. They are graceful people, exciting and dark at the same time.

Contemplative and private, the Snake is not outwardly emotional. He can appear cunning and reticent and works very modestly in the business environment. The Snake will plot and scheme to make certain things turn out exactly as they want them to. They are not great communicators and can become quite possessive when they set their minds on achieving the interest of a partner.

SNAKE FACTS:
People born in the Year of the Snake share certain characteristics. The Snake Sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing that individual’s personality. Following are features associated with the Sign of the Snake.

CHARACTERISTICS
Acute, Aware, Cunning, Proud, Vain, Vicious

Hello 2013!

Happy New Year!

I am excited about 2013 because I think that this year will bring many changes in my life.  For one, I will give birth again this year. I am scheduled for an ultrasound this January and once I know the baby’s gender, I will start thinking of a name. I have been searching for auspicious birth dates for April this year because I will again deliver via caesarian operation.

I am also about to make a major career change as I intend to look for a better job after giving birth. I may even be a full time/stay at home mom for a while and just look for freelance job opportunities. Well, leaving my current job is a risky move and it will also mean letting go of some luxuries and comforts but I believe that better things will happen or will come after making that big decision.

There are many things I want to try this year and I am certain I can do it. Yes, 2013 will be a great, wonderful year. Thank you God for all the blessings and for another opportunity to create wonderful memories

Things I Need or Want to Do Before 2012 Ends

Last January, I made a list of goals that I want to accomplish this year. Well I have accomplished some and realized that some of the goals I have set are too high. Thank God I am not that OC so I still congratulate myself for the things I have done well this 2012 .

It is December 21, 2012 and according to the Mayan calendar, this is supposed to be the end of the world. Well, but it seems it has been postponed.

As I have always been a procrastinator (a bad habit I have been trying to overcome) and a crammer, there are still a lot of things that I wish to do or finish before I bid goodbye to 2012.

·         I want to finish the Simbang Gabi with my husband and mother. It’s the 6th day tomorrow so 3 more days to go.
·         I intend to go to the bank to deposit some of the extra money we managed to save.
·         I intend to treat my nieces and daughter to a movie.
·         I want to go to a salon for a manicure and pedicure.
·         I want to finish at least 2 of the e-books I am currently reading.
·         I want to edit or update some of my blogs.
·         I still need to finish my Christmas shopping.
·         I wish I can still snag a schedule for a visit to the dentist.
·         I need to arrange a trip to my husband’s province in La Union.
·         I want to go swimming with my family on Christmas day.

Seems like a long list and just writing them down makes me feel overwhelmed. But I am praying for strength and guidance and I am determined to do everything well. There is no pressure on my part because as I said I am not that OC and it would be just fine if I failed to do some of the tasks.
