I Think I Need a Sunglass

You know I am proud to say that I used to have a 20/20 vision. I don’t need to wear any glasses to see everything clearly. Is June 13, 2011 a Holiday?

It's a rainy Wednesday afternoon and once again, here I am wishing it's already Friday. I am pretty sure that majority of my officemates are thinking the same thing. In fact, I think that almost all of the Filipinos who are at work or at school today are wishing that tomorrow is a rest day. And true enough, a keyword that is trending in Yahoo search today seems to prove my earlier statement. I checked Yahoo Philippines site today and saw that the keyword "june 13, 2011 holiday" is trending. It means many Filipinos are hoping for a one day off at work next week. It should have been another long weekend- an opportunity to spend quality time with my daughter and hubby and get that much needed R and R. But alas- the current Philippine president is KJ (lol). I did my own research and found out that June 13, 2011 is a regular working day. Apparently, Malacañang announced that Sunday, June 12, 2011 will remain a regular holiday (113th Independence Day) and that it will not be moved to Monday, June 13. Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said, "We have holidays that were moved to the nearest Monday but there were also some not moved primarily because these celebrations are meant to stay on that day. June 12 was not moved." Oh well, I just have to wait for the June 20 holiday then.

Group Buying Sites

Group buying sites are one of the in things nowadays. And since I am someone who dig freebies and discounts; it’s no surprising that I am a member of three group-buying sites.

 

Most of the deals offer huge discounts, some as much as 80% off so it is tempting to grab the offer. Though of course, it is still advisable for one to be careful in purchasing deals. One should first weigh if the deal (even with the discount) is really something they need or just something they want. I think it is easy to be a compulsive shopper in group buying sites. One should also read the terms and conditions of every deal carefully to see if the deal would really give them their money’s worth.

 

I have purchased deals from two of the three sites I joined so I would like to share a short feedback here in my personal blog.

 

Buyanihan.com- This is the first group-buying site I joined, but I haven’t purchased any deal from them yet. This is because I find most of their deals expensive. Some are hotel and resort packages that are available for four pax. Their deals also require a number of buyers before the deal will be available. They offer referral credits though and also hold contests from time to time where members can win cool prizes.

 

Ensogo.com.ph: Of the three group-buying sites that I joined, I think Ensogo.com.ph is the best. Their deals are varied from expensive to cheap. Users also get money credits for every purchase which they can used to purchase new deals. They also offer lots of options for one to pay. They also have a referral program and users will get Php100 credit once the invited friend purchased a deal. I invited my husband to join and he purchased a deal but the Php100 is still not credited to my account. They said they are still verifying the purchase. I also don’t like their voucher because I would be ashamed to give it as a gift as the name ensogo would be there. I wish they can provide a voucher that hides the name of their site.

Metrodeal.com. They also have exciting deals and many are affordable. I like the fact that they offer an option for users who doesn’t have a printer. Metrodeals offer an option where one can simply take note of the voucher code instead of printing them. They seem to have a referral program too but I can’t find a link in my account on how I can send an invitation.

Eager to Participate in Earth Hour 2011

The task of doing something to help save our dear planet need not be so gigantic or difficult. It is as simple as turning off the lights for one hour one day in a year. I am glad there is an annual event called Earth Hour that lets ordinary people like me do something for the environment. My family was able to participate in Earth Hour last year and would be so glad to do it again this 2011. That time, our house seems to be only one that is aware about that event. Hope more people would participate in our area this time. Not Feeling Well

I really don't want to spread negativism but can't say Thank God it's Friday today. I am feeling so sad right now. My spirits are down and i feel like crying. Why? Well my boss got upset because of an unfinished task. I received really embarrassing and hurtful comments because he somewhat disliked the ad copy I wrote for a client. He got really mad upon learning that I was able to do only half of the task. Most of my officemates heard the rants so its major bembang moment. My boss  talked to me and got angry at 2pm and demanded that i finish the work at 3pm. As I am writing this, the storm is over. After a while , my boss who is really kind and consdierate said sorry naman. After all, he never mentioned that he needs it urgently and I have so many other tasks that I thought was the priority. But I still feel bad,so bad that it feels like I can never recover from the embarrassment. But of course, it's not true. If there's one thing I learn, it is that everything passes. As the saying goes- this too shall pass. I just hope nothing of that sort happen to me or to anybody again. This is one of those times when i feel like quitting work. But I know it is a very immature act. Maybe i am just so worried and tired these days that it is affecting my work. I am also kinda sick, down with the colds and flu that never seem to go away. One happy thought- I am again reminded that I have nice and sympathetic co-workers who feels bad when something like this happens to any of us and who are always willing to offer help and kind words of encouragement. Hope I can rest well over the weekend.
